Description:
 
Created during Chapter 2 (2020 - 2023), this piece is part of the Versions of Robert Collection—a deeply personal body of work reflecting my journey through my mother’s stroke, dissociation, and eventual dementia. This period of my life involved immense inner soul work, each piece acting as a page in a diary, accompanied by a poem or story.
 
“Roots” is about looking inward, facing the stories we’ve been told, and unearthing our own truth. It is a dialogue between past and present, a conversation with the inner child—the part of us that still seeks adventure, dreams without fear, and holds onto the purest sense of self.
 
This piece invites the viewer to reflect on:
    •    What stories have shaped you?
    •    Are you carrying burdens that no longer serve you?
    •    What does it mean to return to yourself?
 
The layered movement within the piece suggests a continuous journey of growth, much like the roots of a tree digging deep, searching for nourishment, yet always reaching for the sky.
 
A piece that calls to the heart of the dreamer, the seeker, the child within. “Roots” is an invitation to reconnect with what has always been there—to listen, to feel, and to embrace the journey of self-discovery.
