Created during Chapter 2 (2020 - 2023), this piece is part of the Versions of Robert Collection—a deeply personal body of work reflecting my journey through my mother’s stroke, dissociation, and eventual dementia. This period of my life involved immense inner soul work, each piece acting as a page in a diary, accompanied by a poem or story.
 
“The Root of Our Earth Calls You” explores our relationship with the planet, with each other, and with the truth of our existence. It asks us to listen—to nature, to one another, and to the lessons woven into the earth itself.
 
The words within the illustration are essential to its meaning:
    •    “The Earth is Yours” – A reminder of responsibility, not ownership.
    •    “The kindness in your heart requires no risk” – Love and compassion are gifts freely given, without fear.
    •    “None of you are right – you are all learning” – A call for humility, acknowledging that wisdom is a journey, not a destination.
    •    “Be gentle with each other” – In a world that often rushes, judges, and divides, kindness is a quiet revolution.
    •    “The Root of our Earth Calls You” – The earth itself calls us to return, to reconnect, to remember who we truly are.
